Grant Aid from Japan for Strengthening of Public Security and Counter-terrorism Activities

- In order to strengthen the bi-lateral relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka, the Government of Japan provides grant assistance to Sri Lanka annually, under various grant aid schemes. As such, the Government of Japan has agreed to provide grant assistance under non-project grant aid amounting to Japanese Yen 250 Million (Approximately Rs.327 Million) in the Fiscal Year 2016/2017 for the provision of Japanese products to improve the public security and to strengthen the counter terrorism activities in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to sign the Exchange of Notes with the Government of Japan to obtain the above grant of Japanese Yen 250 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
