Amendment to Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority Act, No. 17 of 1999

- The Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority, provides Sports facilities at the most concessionary rates in all Sports Complexes administered by the Authority. Although, the revenue derived so, is used for the proper maintenance of the Sports Complexes, the revenue generated from them as at present, is not adequate for the purpose. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Minister of Sports, to present the draft Bill, prepared to amend the Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority Act, No.17 of 1999, incorporating amendments made to suite the present trends, with a view to using the Sports Complexes for cultural activities, conferences, examinations and activities of similar nature, enabling to earn an income adequate for the maintenance of the Sport Complexes, when they are not in use for sports functions, in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
