Increase of financial assistance provided to the elderly and the sick artistes by the Department of Cultural Affairs

- The Cabinet has granted approval to increase the annual assistance of Rs.5,000/- up to Rs.10,000/- provided under the aid scheme implemented by the Department of Cultural Affairs, presently, with a view to providing relief to the elderly and the sick artists with a low income, who have done a yeoman service dedicating their lives to the field of Arts. Accordingly, the methodology presented by Hon. S.B. Navinne, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, for the selection of artists with low income for awarding the financial assistance, was noted by the Cabinet.
