Establishment of a National Air Transport Facilitation Programme and a National Air Transport Facilitation Committee
- 452 Standards and Recommended Practices have been laid down in the International Civil Aviation Convention for adoption to provide provision in the International Airports for the facilitation of the operation of aircraft and the prevention of delays when implementing the laws relating to immigration, quarantine, customs and clearance between the Contracting States and Sri Lanka as a member of the International Civil Aviation Convention is bound to follow the said standards and the recommended practices and to implement them in the country's civil aviation activities. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to appoint a National Air Transport Facilitating Committee (NATFC) Headed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, with the participation of other relevant Heads of Ministries and Institutions and to vest the responsibility of preparing and implementing a National Air Transport Facilitation Programme (NATFP) with the said committee for maintaining the set standards and the recommended practices in Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
