Construction of a Warehouse Complex at Medirigiriya in the Polonnaruwa District

- The Cabinet has already granted approval to construct 03 Warehouse Complexes in the Districts of Kilinochchi, Ratnapura and Polonnaruwa, to provide high quality storage facilities to farmers, to store their agricultural produce during the period of a surplus harvest with the objective of avoiding the reduction in market prices due to a glut situation which tends to prevail in the market in such a situation. The construction activities of the 02 Warehouse Complexes at Kilinochchi and Ratnapura have already commenced. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, for awarding the contract of the proposed Warehouse Complex of around 28,500 sq.ft, to be constructed at Medirigiriya in the Polonnaruwa District and the other infrastructure facilities, in accordance with the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
