A Project Design Advance Loan for the project preparatory activities of the Northern Province Sustainable Fisheries Development Project

- The approval of the Cabinet has already been granted for the implementation of the 'Northern Province Sustainable Fisheries Development Project' covering the coastal areas of the Districts of Jaffna, Mulathivu and Kilinochchi, with a view to improving the nutritional status, food security and the fisheries productions to enhance the income of the fisheries community. This project, will be beneficial for around 40,000 fisheries families of the Northern Province. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to enter into an Agreement with regard to obtaining a Loan Advance of US$1.3 Million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), for commencing the preparatory activities of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
