Amendment to the Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, No. 14 of 2016

- The Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, No. 14 of 2016 was approved by the Parliament on the 23rd August, 2016. A proposal has been made to remove the paragraph (a) of section 11 which empowers the above Office 'to enter into Agreements with any person or organization' in regard to the performance of its functions. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to amend the Bill accordingly, was approved by the Cabinet.
