Construction of new buildings for Courts

- When considering the prevailing situation, the construction of new buildings for court houses has been necessitated in view of the existing court buildings being very old, the increase in legal actions in relation to the increase in population being high and the availability of space in court houses being barely sufficient. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Justice, to construct new buildings for court houses according priority to the construction of court buildings in Gampola, Ruwanwella, Mankulam, Mulathivu, Jaffna, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, was approved by the Cabinet.
