Report on the current situation of the Gin-Nilwala Diversion Project

- A sum of Rs.3,549 Million has been released from the General Treasury during the period from 2015-01-01 to 2015-01-07 for the Gin-Nilwala Diversion Project and the Ministerial Sub-Committee appointed to examine the present situation of the implementation of the project and make recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers, has observed, that it is unusual for such magnitude of payment to be made at the beginning of a financial year. Accordingly, the recommendation made by the Ministerial Sub-Committee, to hand over the investigation into this matter to the Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID), was approved by the Cabinet.
