Procurement of 60 MW of Supplementary Power for a 06 month period to ensure uninterrupted power supply
- The Sri Lanka Public Utility Commission has submitted recommendations with regard to the measures to be taken to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to face the likely electricity deficit in a dry weather situation prevailing, presently, in the Island. A major recommendation among other recommendations is to install additional power capacity to the network, expeditiously. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapaitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to purchase a number of generators of 60Mw capacity necessary to generate power supply for a short period of 06 months by Open International Competitive Bidding Procedure, in accordance with the proposal of the Ceylon Electricity Board, was approved by the Cabinet.
