Amendment to the Prevention of Mosquito Breeding Act, No. 11 of 2007
- Presently, Dengue fever has become a major health problem in Sri Lanka. The most effective and successful preventive measure identified currently is the control of mosquito breeding. The Legislation which provides for the control of Dengue is the Prevention of Mosquito Breeding Act, No.11 of 2007. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft Legislation with the objective of making the amendments necessary to the Act, to rectify the deficiencies and shortcomings identified in the implementation of this Act, was approved by the Cabinet.
