Hosting the 10th Air Services Negotiation Event of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Sri Lanka

- The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was established as an Agency of the United Nations to manage the administration and governance of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention) signed in the year 1944 and Sri Lanka functions as a member of the organization since June 1948. Providing a Central meeting place for all member states with a view to improving the efficiency of the negotiating process in regard to the Aviation Services Agreements, the International Civil Aviation Organization holds an Air Services Agreement Convention, annually. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to host the Convention of the year 2017 in the period from 04 to 08 December 2017 in Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
