Marketing Facility Development Project of the Tourism Industry
- The Australian Government has submitted a proposal for the implementation of Marketing Facility Development Project with an investment of Rs.12 Million Australian Dollars for a period of 04 years, targeting the implementation of a project for stimulating business investment in the tourism industry. The proposed project aims at increasing facilities for international business activities in the fields of digital technology which is growing past in Sri Lanka for the identification of new attractive tourist destinations and activities of a more divers nature of the tourism industry, promotion of tourism investment activities in areas where tourism associated business investment is lagging and attracting international consumers for the highest quality 'Sri Lankan made' products. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. John Amarathunga, the Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs, to enter into an Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Australia for the implementation of the proposed Marketing Facility Development Project in Sri Lanka with the financial assistance provided by the Government of Australia, was approved by the Cabinet.
