Memorandum of Understanding for Development Cooperation Partnership between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Australia
- The development cooperation between Sri Lanka and Australia dates back to more than 60 years and Australia can be regarded as a leading country which provides Sri Lanka with long term scholarships on various subject fields. A Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries was entered into in the year 1998 to ensure the smooth implementation of the Australian assistance within Sri Lanka and the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to sign the reformulated Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Australia taking into consideration the policy changes which occurred in both countries recently, was approved by the Cabinet.
