The Pilot Project for establishment of a Ground Water Monitoring Network covering the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Moneragala Districts

- Proper management of ground water usage in Sri Lanka is extremely important and in this context, it is essential to collect timely data on quantity and quality of ground water. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, to award the contract for the establishment of a pilot project on the data network on ground water monitoring, covering the river basins of the Malwathu Oya in the Anuradhapura District, the Maduru Oya in the Polonnaruwa District and the Kumbukkan Oya in the Moneragala District, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
