Setting up of an Intravenous Solution Manufacturing Plant in Sri Lanka
- The Government spends a large sum of money annually, for the importation of medicinal drugs and other medical equipment. The Cabinet approval has already been granted to set up an Intravenous Solution Manufacturing Plant in Sri Lanka to save foreign exchange at least to a certain extent and enable the manufacture of essential Intravenous Medicinal Products in their fresh and high quality form and supply in a short supply time to all hospitals in the country uninterruptedly. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract of the project for setting up of the manufacturing plant, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
