Relocation of two transmission lines to facilitate construction of the proposed New Bridge over the Kelani River

- The preliminary activities for construction of a six-lane bridge over the Kelani River for connecting the existing Colombo - Katunayake Express Way, have now been completed. In this regard, it is necessary to relocate two main power transmission lines of Kolonnawa - Kelanitissa 132kv and the Biyagama - Kelanitissa 420kv, to facilitate the construction of the new bridge. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contract for relocating the two power transmission lines, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
