Establishment of the Multi purpose Fishery Harbours in Udappuwa, Delft, Madhagal and Chalei

- The Government has planned to establish Multi purpose Fishery Harbour Complexes so as to cover all the three fields namely the fishery, commercial and tourism. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, to make enable large fishing trawlers to gain access and to construct Multi purpose Fishery Harbours in Udappuwa, Delft, Madhagal and Chalei with cold storage, fish drying, packing facilities and centres for repairing fishing equipment and for the preparation of a feasibility report on constructing the above multi purpose harbours, free of charge, was approved by the Cabinet.
