Construction of a Safety Center for temporary accommodation of people affected during a disastrous situation

- The National Building and Research Organization has identified that Badulla, as a high risk landslides prone District due to intensive rainfall. As such, it is obligatory to ensure the safety of the affected community and to construct a safety centre where the people subject to emergency disaster situations could be provided shelter. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management, to acquire a land in extent of half an acre belonging to the Balangoda Plantation Company to the Ministry of Disaster Management, for the construction of a safety centre where people could be temporarily accommodated during an emergency disaster situation, was approved by the Cabinet.
