Training Programme in Skills Development associated with the Gem & Jewellary Industry

- The objective of the National Gem and Jewellery Research Training Institution, in widening the scope of its research and training activities, is to further enhance the contribution by the industry towards the economic development of Sri Lanka. With the objective of providing foreign employment opportunities for skilled personal in the sector, to convert the National Gem and Jewellery Research Training Institution into a Gem and Jewellery Education Institution of International standard, which could attract foreign students, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to implement a skilled development project to further the scope of the training opportunities provided by the institution, was approved by the Cabinet.
