Elimination of violence against women within the work places and empowerment of women

- In accordance with the International Agreements entered into by Sri Lanka, legal and other measures to protect and safeguard women from various forms of violence caused to them within their work places need to put in place. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Chandrani Bandara, the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, to establish Committees headed by Senior Officials of the Ministries, Departments and the Institutions functioning at the district and divisional level, to eliminate violence against women within the work places, just because of being a woman, with a view to protecting and empowering women, was approved by the Cabinet.
