Restoration of Madulla, Bingoda, Kolallawatta Reservoir

- The people of the area are engaged in their farming activities depending on the Madulla, Bingoda, Kolallawatta reservoir situated in the Divisional Secretary's Division of Madulla in the Moneragla District of the Uva Province have made requests from a long time for the formal construction of the reservoir. Accordingly, it has been planned to restore the reservoir and to improve the land and paddy cultivation of the area and to enhance the living standards of the people with the establishment of a sustainable irrigation system. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, to construct the proposed reservoir across the Kolallawatta Aru which is a branch of the Unachchi Aru after carrying out an assessment study on the environmental impacts, at an estimated cost of Rs.320 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
