Establishment of the Multi-Model Transport Centre at Battaramulla

- With the location of all Government administrative Institutions in the areas of Battaramulla and Sri Jayawardhanapura, Kotte under the master plan of the Megapolis and Western Development, it is important to minimize the vehicle congestion that would be created in doing so. Due to the development activities of the future, it has been proposed to provide multi model transport facilities like Bus and light Rail Transits, elevated highways and inland water transport facilities, in order to address the upcoming transport demand of the said area. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to implement a mixed development project comprising of a multi model transport centre, office accommodation of 113,000 sq.ft, a 33,000 sq.ft of residential apartments and 60,000 sq.ft of commercial space under the Public and Private Partnership basis, adjoining the Battaramulla 'Suhurupaya' building, was approved by the Cabinet.
