Purchasing of a Land to Construct a Hostel for Male Students of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, Colombo

- The policy of the Government is to complete the process of providing hostel facilities to all University students who need hostels by the end of the year 2018. Although, the hostel issue of all the female students studying in the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, Rajagiriya has been addressed, the problem relating to male students studying there has been addressed through houses provided on rent basis for the time being and the permanent solution, has been identified as purchasing a land and constructing a hostel. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriwella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to purchase a plot of land in extent of 62 perches situated within the Municipal limits of Sri Jayewardhanepura, Kotte, at a cost of Rs.99.5 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
