Provision of the office allowance for Members of Parliament and enhancement of the Parliament sitting allowance

- The proposal made by Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, the Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media, to grant a monthly allowance of Rs.100,000/- to all Hon. Members of Parliament including the Members appointed under the National List to cover the expenses borne on maintenance of an office, and to enhance the Parliament sitting allowance from Rs.500 to Rs.2,500/- with effect from January 2017, was approved by the Cabinet.
