Greater Colombo Transmission and Distribution Loss Reduction Project

- The Greater Colombo Transmission and Distribution Loss Reduction Project is implemented under the loan facilities of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with a view to contributing to the economic development in the region by strengthening the transmission and distribution capacity and enhancing the transmission and distribution network in the Greater Colombo area for increasing the reliability of power supply and reducing transmission losses. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contract for the supply of specially made vehicles required for the distribution work under Package 3 of the project, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
