Proposal for Setting up of a Meter Enclosure Manufacturing Factory

- The Ceylon Electricity Board and the Lanka Electricity (Pvt) Company (LECO) require more than 250,000 meter enclosures annually. These are presently obtained from the open market via a competitive bidding process and due to the scarcity of the items which occur at various instances, it has not be possible to fulfil the customer demand. As a remedial measure in this regard, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, for the Sri Lanka Energies (Pvt) Ltd. affiliated to the Ceylon Electricity Board to establish a Meter Enclosure Manufacturing Factory in the Galigamuwa industrial zone in the Kegalle District and to provide the Meter Enclosures so produced to the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Lanka Electricity (Pvt) Company, was approved by the Cabinet.
