Construction of a Student Hostel for the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute
- The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (the German Tech) established under German financial aid, presently conducts 10 full time training courses and around 2,000 students from various parts of the Island are engaged in following them. Action is being taken to increase the intake of students by a further 200 by the end of year 2017. It is important to provide hostel facilities to the students to create a proper learning environment necessary for a qualitative education and accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, to construct a 05 storeyed hostel building for the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute in the Attidiya area of Dehiwala to accommodate around 1,000 students, at an estimated cost of Rs.280 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
