Establishment of the National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka

- A proposal has been made to establish a National Defence College in Sri Lanka, with the objective of linking Sri Lanka strategically with the global trends, to bring both local and foreign Defence scholars together to share their experiences at a central platform and provide a formal training in strategic level aspects of security to a greater number of officers of the Forces as well as civil officers. Accordingly, considering the importance of establishing the academy in the vicinity of Colombo, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, to establish it in the premises of 'Mumtaz Mahal', the official residence formally used by the Speaker to the Parliament having made suitable renovations, was approved by the Cabinet.
