Improvement of Urban Interconnected Roads
- It is essential to develop the roads that connect urban areas, in order to minimize vehicle congestion in Western Province and develop the regional transport infrastructure facilities. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to carpet and improve 26 interconnected roads of about 30 km in total length where vehicular traffic continues amidst difficulties due to extremely dilapidated conditions, at a cost of Rs.208.5 million, in the areas of Colombo, Moratuwa, Mahara and Avissawella through the Provincial Road Development Authority (Western Province) as recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management, was approved by the Cabinet.
