Seed and Planting Material Development Project

- It has been scientifically confirmed that the quality of harvesting and productivity could be increased through ensuring the availability of quality seeds and planting material. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture to implement projects to ensure the availability of high quality seed and planting material required for assuring sustainability of agricultural and food security of the country, utilizing the lands belonging to the Department of Agriculture and the Institutions coming under it, which have not been used for any productive purpose, with public‑private partnership participation, was approved by the Cabinet.
