Establishment of the Sri Lanka Institute of Digital Health Innovation & Commercialization
- Convergence of the genomic medicine and information and communication technologies are referred to as Digital Health and it is making a paradigm shift in the field of health-care for higher quality delivery of services, superior outcomes and lower costs. In the recent past, a steep increase in the amount of global investment is shown in the Digital Health Sector and the future of the Health-care Sector will depend on the Digital Health Innovation. In this context, with a view to reaping maximum benefits to Sri Lanka, the proposal made by Hon. Susil Premajayantha, the Minister of Science, Technology and Research, for the establishment of the 'Sri Lanka Institute of Digital Health Innovation and Commercialization' as a Public‑Private Partnership to make enable to build network with the world recognized commercial and research organizations in order to foster high quality innovations with the use of modern digital and genomic technology, was approved by the Cabinet as a matter of principle.
