Continuation of the Anti-Corruption Committee Secretariat
- The attention of the Government has been drawn for restructuring the Anti‑Corruption Committee structure and it has been proposed to establish a fully‑powered Serious Frauds Office, similar to the Serious Fraud Office of the United Kingdom. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister to continue the operations of the Anti‑Corruption Committee Secretariat (ACCS) established in 2015, to receive complaints regarding serious frauds and corruption and to facilitate the related investigations, until such time that, a new anti‑corruption structure is introduced, was approved by the Cabinet.
