Upgrading the Printing Press in the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka based on new technology

- The Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka annually conducts over 270 examinations and the Press of the Department prints over 160 Lakhs of question papers including a large number of other documentation. It has been identified that the Press needs modernization if it were to print question papers with a high quality finish, devoid of defects and preserving the confidentiality it requires. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasa, the Minister of Education, for the purchase of printing machines of digital technology and equipment necessary for the press of the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka, at an estimated cost of Rs.530 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
