Creation of a Charitable Trust for the Sri Lanka Buddhist Pilgrims Rest (SLBPR)

- The Sri Lanka Buddhist Pilgrims Rest in New Delhi which provides accommodation for the pilgrims who visit India, is a property given to the Government of Sri Lanka by Pandith Jawaharal Neru, when he was the Prime Minister of India. The proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Buddha Sasana, to create a Charitable Trust under the Trust Ordinance and to ensure that the pilgrims rest is used for the intended purposes, provides high quality accommodation facilities for pilgrims, proper management to enable the income generated to be utilized for charitable purposes, was approved by the Cabinet.
