Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2016-11-01
The signing of a Subsidiary Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Australia ‘in respect of Skills for Inclusive Economic Growth’
- It is proposed to implement a programme by the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training, during the period 2016-2019 to create educational opportunities for qualitative skills development in the field of tourism to provide job opportunities for the youth of the Districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa. The proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, to enter into a Subsidiary Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Australia to obtain a financial grant of AUD15 Million as agreed to be provided for by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of the Government of Australia for the implementation of this programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
