Establishment of an Independent Centralized Procurement Institution for procuring items generally used in State Institutions

- The need to establish an Independent Centralized Procurement Institution has been identified, in order to minimize undue delays and wastage in the procurement process, reap the benefits in large scale procurement, ensure the quality of goods and the value in terms of prices etc. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, for the establishment of an Independent Centralized Procurement Institution, comprising of 05 members with expertise in various fields pertaining to procurement procedure, was approved by the Cabinet.
