Agro-based Industries and Marketing Infrastructure Facilities Development Programme

- The Multi-Sectoral Development Programme implemented under the Presidential Programme of 'Rajarata Navodaya' and ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’, has accorded high priority for the establishment of Agro Marketing Chains and the construction of an Agricultural Economic Marketing Centre. In view of same, it has been proposed to implement an Agro-based Industries and Marketing Infrastructure Facilities Development Project and the People's Republic of China has agreed to provide the required financial assistance in this regard. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Rural Economy, to award the contract for the implementation of the Project, in accordance with the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee (CANC), was approved by the Cabinet.
