Organizing an International Sports Workshop, an Exhibition and a Festival

- The Ministry of Sports has planned to conduct a Sports Workshop, Exhibition and a Festival in collaboration with the local and sports related International Institutions in the 1st quarter of the year 2017 at the Galle Face, Colombo, with an anticipated participation of around 8,000 local and foreign athletes, with a view to promoting 07 selected sports in Sri Lanka, with the guidance of foreign coaches and for the purpose of enhancing the skills and aptitudes of Sri Lankan athletes by organizing competitions where the Sri Lankan athletes could compete with International athletes. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Minister of Sports, to appoint a Steering Committee with the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Sports for holding the above workshop, exhibition and festival and also to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with a Company of Malaysia and to get the sponsorship and cooperation of the public and private sectors, to make the programme a success, was approved by the Cabinet.
