Enhancement of Productivity of the Livestock Sector in Sri Lanka

- With a view to assisting the task of developing the livestock production sector in Sri Lanka, while conquering the foreign markets and fulfilling the local demand, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Rural Economy, to obtain a Treasury provision of Rs.1,402 million, to establish a new food technology laboratory in the Veterinary Research Institute of the Department of Animal Production and Health, to modernize the Veterinary Vaccine Production Centre of the said Department, to establish Multi-sectoral Units at district level to control Rabies and to prepare a national programme for the protection from diseases spread through various animals, was approved by the Cabinet.
