Physical and Spiritual Development Programme implemented under the ‘Punyagrama’ Project

- The ‘Punyagrama Programme' implemented under the Ministry of Buddhasasana, is expected to promote moral values as well as develop the physical facilities related therewith while strengthening the relationship between the village and the temple. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to implement a project of installing water filter (Reverse Osmosis) machines to provide safe drinking water, centering the temples which are being maintained amidst various difficulties, situated in the areas in the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces, where the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKDu) is prevalent and in the other Provinces where water borne diseases are prevalent, utilizing the provision of Rs.24 million allocated for this project, in the year 2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
