Ratification of the Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) pertaining to the Maritime Field

- With a view to enhancing the employment opportunities for Sri Lankans pertaining to the maritime field, uplifting their working conditions and obtaining other benefits associated with the Shipping Industry, the proposal made by Hon. W.D.J. Seneviratne, the Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations, to ratify the ILO Maritime Labour Convention of 2006 and the Seafarers' Identity Documents Convention No.185 of 2003, and to provide necessary legislative provisions for the implementation of the said Conventions, was approved by the Cabinet.
