Transfer of Powers (Divisional Secretaries) (Special Provisions) Bill

- It has been observed that District Secretaries warrant the grant of more power, to supervise the development activities implemented at District and Divisional level. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to publish the Transfer of Powers (Divisional Secretaries) (Special Provisions) Bill, which has been drafted in order to make provisions for a more meaningful, effective and transparent implementation of the Transfer of Powers (Divisional Secretaries) Act No.58 of 1992, within the District and Divisional Administration, in the Government Gazette and present it thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
