Implementation of an Integrated Rural Development Programme through the officers deployed at Divisional Secretariat and Grama Niladhari’s Division Levels
- Presently, 14,022 Grama Niladhari Divisions have been established within 332 Divisional Secretariat Divisions, covering all the villages across the country. Each Grama Niladhari Division has been allocated with five (05) field officers, namely, Grama Niladhari, Economic Development Officer, Divinaguma Development Officer, Agricultural Research and Production Assistant and Family Health Services Officer, while approximately 50 field officers have been deployed at Divisional Secretariat Level, representing various Ministries and Departments. Therefore, the proposal made by H.E the President Maithripala Sirisena, to appoint a Cabinet Sub‑Committee, to submit proposals and recommendations on implementing an Integrated Rural Development Programme, with a view to harnessing the contributions of those officers to the national development, in a fruitful and a creative manner, was approved by the Cabinet.
