Recommendations of the Ministerial Sub-Committee appointed to look into the matters pertaining to female migrant workers
- In accordance with the recommendations of the Ministerial Sub-Committee appointed to look into the matters pertaining to female migrant workers, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, the Minister of Foreign Employment, to widen the scope of the existing Family Background Report (FBR) and use the same as a document that decides the eligibility of female migrant workers for pre-departure orientation and recruitment and to entrust the task of evaluating the family background and the suitability to migrate for employment, to the Committees under the Chairmanship of the relevant Divisional Secretary and comprised of the officers such as the Child Rights Promotion Officer, Early Childhood Development Officer, Women' Development Officer, Child Protection Officer, Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and the Development Officer (Ministry of Foreign Employment) and also to continue with the existing minimum ages for female domestic workers, without any change, as 25 years of age for Saudi Arabia, 23 years of age for other Middle East countries and 21 years of age for non-Middle East countries, was approved by the Cabinet.
