Implementation of the Seethawaka River Hydropower Project
- It is anticipated that 50 GW hours could be added to the National Grid annually through the proposed Seethawaka River Hydropower Project of 20 MW, which has been identified under the Electricity Generation Plan of Sri Lanka. This project is proposed to be established in the Hinguralakanda village of the Dehiowita Divisional Secretariat Division in the Kegalle District. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to obtain the expertise required for the implementation of the project, from the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), was approved by the Cabinet.
