Completion the Construction Work of the Cancer Treatment Centre at Teaching Hospital, Kandy
- The Teaching Hospital, Kandy, which is the second largest tertiary healthcare institute in Sri Lanka, caters to about 4,000 cancer patients every year. With a view to increasing the number of beds in the hospital by 340 and providing a more qualitative healthcare service to the cancer patients, the construction of a 11 storied Cancer Treatment Centre for the Teaching Hospital, Kandy was commenced in the year 2013 and the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the completion of the balance work (Phase III) of the Centre, to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), was approved by the Cabinet.
