Transferring the freshwater hatchery at Panapitiya, Kalutara, to the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency, permanently
- The ornamental fisheries industry is a high-potential area that can make a considerable contribution towards employment generation, and researches related to the said industry are being successfully conducted by the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA). Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development to permanently transfer the freshwater hatchery at Panapitiya, Kalutara, which is presently, a property of the National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka (NAQDA), to the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency, to enable the the fulfilment of research requirements related to the ornamental fisheries industry, while enhancing its infrastructure facilities, was approved by the Cabinet.
