Providing Water Supply Facilities for the Villages where the affected families in the Kegalle District are resettled
- About 2,000 families in Kegalle District have been temporarily settled in 65 locations, due to the destruction of their houses or the removal from their homes as a result of landslides and high-risk warnings. It has been planned to resettle the said displaced people in 11 Divisional Secretariats of the Kegalle District. Water supply facilities have to be provided expeditiously to the 45 places so identified as suitable for resettlement. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to provide the necessary water supply facilities, at an estimated cost of Rs.455 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
