Extending the service period of Experienced Clinical Consultants up to 63 Years of Age
- There are 1,164 vacancies in the posts of Medical Consultants in the curative sectors of Hospitals in the Island. Since a considerable period of time will be needed to fill the said vacancies under the prevailing system and taking into consideration their ability to serve beyond the existing compulsory age of retirement, with the skills and experiences acquired during their service period, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to extend the age of compulsory retirement of experienced Medical Consultants serving in the curative sectors up to age of 63 years, was approved by the Cabinet.
